Scope of Comprehensive cover

Loss or damage to your car caused by:

  • Accidental collision or overturning
  • Fire, external explosion, self-ignition or lightning
  • Burglary, theft
  • Malicious act

Liability to third parties
Liability towards third parties for property damage or bodily injury, including death.

Third Parties include passengers in the vehicle, excepted members of household and employees of Insured.

Personal Accident for car occupants
A basic cover for car occupants providing for the payment of benefits following Death, Permanent Disablement and the refund of Medical Expenses subject to limits specified.

Extensions
Your private car policy may be extended on request and for an additional premium to cover:

  • Cyclone and flood damage
  • Strikes, riots and civil commotion
  • Higher limits of Sum Insured under the Personal Accident cover for car occupants
  • Loss of Use – payment of a specified amount per day while your car is under repairs

Excess
An Excess is the first amount of a claim which the Policyholder has to bear.

It is applicable in respect of claims pertaining to loss or damage to the car and does not therefore concern Third party claims.

It is applicable irrespective of whether the Policyholder is at fault for the damage to his car or not.

RESTRICTION OF COMPREHENSIVE COVER

Third Party only

The Comprehensive cover under your Private car insurance policy may be restricted to cover only liability towards Third parties. This restricted cover is usually known as ‘Third party only’ cover.

Third party and Fire
This is a Third Party only cover extended to cover Fire damage caused to your car.
