which can be tailored to meet your protection needs.
Scope of cover
SICOM’s Householder’s Comprehensive
insurance comprises of several sections and each section is
distinguished by what it protects.
House and Personal Property
This is the key property coverage as it covers your single most
valuable piece of property – the house itself as well
as the contents against loss or damage to the insured items
caused by perils such as fire, lightning, burglary, cyclone
and flood, riots.
Electronic Equipment
There is no doubt that as the use of electronic equipment
is becoming more and more widespread, you cannot afford to have
your daily activities disrupted in case of accidents and breakdown.
The policy covers all sudden and unforeseen losses that physically
affect the insured equipment, e.g. loss or damage as a result
of negligence, improper handling, fire without open flames,
smoke, vandalism.
Personal Liability
Protection for accidental bodily injury or property damage
to others for which you are legally liable.
In addition, the coverage will also provide for the cost of
legal defence in case you are sued.
Employer’s Liability
Indemnity in respect of your legal liability towards
any domestic servant or private driver in respect of bodily
injury or disease arising out of and in the course of their
employment.
Standard policy excess
In the event of a valid claim within the scope of your
policy, you will need to bear a first amount of the claim amount,
the excess as specified in each section.
Making a claim
At SICOM, we strive towards fair and quick
settlement of claims. There are however a few things that
you will need to do to enable us to deal with your claim promptly.
It is therefore important that you:
- Inform the Police Authorities in case of burglary
- Notify us of your claim in writing or by phone as soon
as possible and at latest within 5 days of occurrence of
the event giving rise to the claim. You can come to our
office to make your claim. Our staff will be glad to assist
you in filling in a claim form and to advise you of other
procedures
- Where necessary, please take reasonable steps to prevent
further loss or damage
- As far as possible, do not incur any repair costs without
our prior approval, but if emergency repairs are necessary
to prevent further loss, please keep the receipts for the
costs involved
- Preserve the damaged property for inspection purposes
- Send to us without delay any claim, which you may receive,
from another party in connection with the occurrence giving
rise to the claim
