Range of Optional Benefits which can be added to your SICOM Life policy

1. Total and Permanent Disability Benefits

In the event the insured person suffers total and permanent disablement, during the currency of the policy, such that he is unable to carry out any occupation, he will receive insurance benefits that will help giving financial assistance to his family.

Some features of the Total and Permanent Disability Benefits

  • The benefits are payable in case of total, permanent (irreversible disability) and therefore temporary / partial disability benefits are not covered
  • The benefits payable in case of total and permanent disability will be the same as those that would have been payable on death. The policy ceases to be in force after payment of the total and permanent disability benefits and no further premium/benefit is payable
  • The insured person may be covered until he attains the age of 65
This optional benefit is not available under our Single Premium Capital Growth Plans

2. Double Accident Benefits

In the event of the accidental death of the insured person during the currency of the policy and before he attains the age of 65, AN ADDITIONAL SUM ASSURED shall be payable together with the death benefits and accrued bonuses (if applicable)

This optional benefit is not available under our Loan Protection and Single Premium Capital Growth Plans

3. Health Care (serious illness cover)

Should you fall seriously ill, financial resources will be have to be spent for your treatment and to safeguard your family’s interests. As a SICOM Life Policy holder, you can benefit from our Health Care option. We provide insurance benefits upon diagnosis of the illnesses listed below as per the respective definitions

Benefits of SICOM Health Care plan

There are no restrictions on how you must use the insurance benefits received under the SICOM Health Care plan.

For instance you would be able to use the benefits received to

  • Purchase medical accessories
  • Settle a debt taken to meet expenses incurred in obtaining medical treatment locally or abroad.
  • Refund a loan
  • Even go on vacation overseas or on a cruise

Heart Attack

The death of a portion of heart muscle as a result of inadequate blood supply to the relevant area. The diagnosis must be based on all of:
  • a history of typical chest pain
  • new electrocardiographic changes and
  • elevation of cardiac enzymes above standard laboratory levels
Coronary Artery Disease Requiring Surgery

The undergoing of heart surgery to correct narrowing or blockage of one or more coronary arteries with bypass grafts in persons with limiting anginal symptoms, but excluding non-surgical techniques such as balloon angioplasty or laser relief of an obstruction.

Stroke

Any cerebrovascular incident producing neurological sequelae lasting more than 24 hours and including infarction of brain tissue, intracranial and/or subarachnoid haemorrhage and embolisation from an extra-cranial source. There must be evidence of permanent neurological deficit.

Cancer

Unequivocal diagnosis of a malignant tumour characterised by the uncontrolled growth and spread of malignant cells and the invasion of tissue. The definition includes leukaemia (other than chronic lymphocytic leukaemia), but excludes non-invasive cancers in situ, tumours in the presence of any human immuno-deficiency virus and any skin cancer other than malignant melanoma.

Kidney Failure

End stage renal disease, due to whatever cause or causes, with the Life Assured undergoing regular peritoneal dialysis or haemodialysis or having had renal transplantation.

Major Organ Transplantation

The actual undergoing of a necessary transplantation of heart, heart and lung(s), liver, pancreas, kidney or bone marrow, as a recipient.

Paralysis

Complete and permanent loss of use of two or more limbs (alternatively ‘arms and legs’) through paralysis excluding paralysis resulting from
  • Participation in any hazardous sport or pursuit including hang-gliding, mountaineering and racing of any kind or
  • The Life Assured committing any breach of the Law or participation in riots, civil commotion, rebellion, war (whether war be declared or not).
