As we celebrate World Energy Day this 22nd of October 2022, SICOM is pleased to announce that, as part of its ESG reporting, its dedicated team has successfully installed a 10-kilowatt photovoltaic on-grid system on the roof of Ebene’s SICOM Tower, which is connected to the CEB network and will produce about 16,500 kWh of energy yearly. All tenants will benefit from this installation in the form of a more contained electricity bill. This is to be coupled with other energy saving initiatives for this building, like LED lights throughout the common areas; presence sensors installed in lift lobbies to control lights as well as the use of destination-controlled technology in view of regulating the traffic flow; automated taps in washrooms to manage water consumption; high performance glazing to reduce solar heat penetrating office spaces, which directly lowers energy consumption by air-conditioning units. Additionally, a landscaping programme has been designed to provide a greener environment and the water level in tanks have been adjusted and equipment have been finetuned to save water and subsequently decrease water bills.
